A first afternoon, before the day

A first afternoon, before the day.

An engagement session is the only chance I have to photograph you before the wedding. We use it to learn what the two of you are like when you forget the camera is there — usually that takes about twenty minutes. The rest of the afternoon is yours, made into a small set of images you will want on a wall, on a save-the-date, on the inside cover of the album we will eventually print.

I prefer locations the two of you already love — the corner you walk to on Sundays, the lookout you found in your first year together, a quiet stretch of the Golden Gate or a vineyard your families have been to. If you are not sure yet, we will talk through three options on a short call and pick one together.

What it is like

We meet about an hour before the light softens — usually late afternoon. You wear whatever feels like you: one outfit if you would rather not change, two if you want a softer first half and a more formal second. I will not pose you. I will suggest a walk, a slow turn, a pause to look at each other. Most couples relax inside the first ten minutes and forget I am there. The session runs about ninety minutes, finishes near sunset, and you receive around sixty finished images about two weeks later.

Investment

Engagement session investment is shared on inquiry. If you go on to book your wedding with me, the engagement session credits in full toward your wedding collection.

If you'd like an afternoon before the wedding, write me a few sentences about the two of you.
